Meet Dr. Shanmugam

Best Rheumatologist Philadelphia

Dr. Shanmugam is a member of 

 Dr. Shanmugam is a board certified rheumatologist who has been practicing in the Philadelphia suburbs for the past 11 years. 

​

Dr. Shanmugam completed her internal medicine training from Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health and went on to be Assistant Professor of Medicine at Abington Hospital prior to competing her rheumatology fellowship training at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. She is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and a member of the Pennsylvania Rheumatology Society.

She truly believes that a physician patient relationship that is built on trust helps patients feel healthy and get better soon.  She devotes a lot of her time during each patient visit to talk to patients about their health and makes sure she address all their concerns.  Dr. Shanmugam is an expert in diagnosing and treating a variety of rheumatological conditions. Her areas of interest are treating inflammatory arthritis, osteoporosis, systemic lupus ,and inflammatory myositis.  Her personal mission is to treat the patient not just the disease.

Dr. Shanmugam's primary goal is to provide an atmosphere where all patients feel welcome, safe, and cared for. Her office creates an atmosphere that is compassionate and efficiently provides care to each and every patient.

Meet Lu "Linda" Hine, CRNP

Lu Hine is a member of

"Each and every one of my patients is unique. There is no one size fits all. My goal is to taking the time to listen and connect with my patients to guide and help them achieve their health goals."

Linda graduated from Widener University with both her BSN and MSN in Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner Degree. She is a certified Registered Family Nurse Practitioner recognized by American Academy of Nurse Practitioners that specializes in Rheumatology. While in school, she did a Rheumatology clinical roation and fell in love with Rheumatology. It is an exciting and challenging field with fascinating patients with the opportunity to be a detective and make a difference in patients' quality of life.

She joined Dr. Shanmugam's practice in 2021 in the midst of the COVID pandemic. Prior to joining the practice, she worked at Reading Hospital with experiences in critical care, wound care, and adult geriatrics. She is a member of American College of Rheumatology, Rheumatology Advanced Practice Providers, Association of Women in Rheumatology, and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Linda believes providing a comprehensive, compassionate, empathetic, patient centered quality care is important. Her areas of interest include osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, joint injections, inflammatory spondyloarthropathies, inflammatory arthritis, and systemic lupus.

In addition to English, Linda speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. She resides in Exton with her husband and daughter along with her 3 furry babies. She enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, camping, biking. She also loves traveling and going to the beach.

Meet Shivani Rathod, PA

Shivani is an NCCPA board certified physician assistant. Shivani received her Bachelors of Science undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and completed her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Ithaca College. While at Ithaca College, Shivani was a member of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and American Academy of Physician Assistants. She discovered her passion for Rheumatology during rotations through Cayuga Health System.  

 

Shivani's goal is to create a safe space for patients to feel heard and understood, support them through all aspects of their care, and help them to get back to the things they love. Shivani's interests include intraarticular injections, inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, inflammatory connective tissue diseases, and osteoporosis.

Our Practice

Rheumatology and Arthritis Care Center is a private rheumatology practice in Exton PA. Our office will simplify the ease of accessing state of the art rheumatology care for patients in Downingtown, Exton, Paoli, Malvern, West Chester, Chester Springs,  Coatsville, King of Prussia, Phoenixville and Pottstown areas to name a few. Our personal goal is to provide personalized, compassionate, state of the art care in a warm and respectful environment.  We continually strive to educate our patients on their condition, treatment choices, and generalized well-being in an attempt to overcome disease and restore quality of life.
